Backroom Changes Announced Ahead of 2025/26 Season

0 1

Royston Town FC is pleased to confirm some exciting developments to our backroom teams ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Franco Nacca Promoted to First Team Coach

We’re delighted to announce that Franco Nacca has been promoted from Reserves Manager to First Team Coach.

This is a thoroughly well-deserved step up for Franco, who has impressed throughout his time at the club with his calm leadership, coaching expertise, and player-focused approach. His ability to build relationships and develop individuals on and off the pitch makes him a fantastic fit for the first-team environment.

First Team Manager Chris Watters shared his thoughts on the appointment:

“I’m really looking forward to working closely with Franco. He’s a great fit for what is already a close-knit and committed group of staff and players. Franco is no stranger to the squad, so his transition into the first team setup will be absolutely seamless. He’s got a real ability to connect with players, and his promotion is fully deserved.”

New Reserves Management Team Confirmed

With Franco stepping into his new role, we’re pleased to announce that Roy Smith and Simon Tapsell will now take over as the joint managers of the Reserves team.

Roy and Simon have been instrumental in developing our Under 18s squad over recent seasons, and this promotion is not only recognition of their excellent work, but also a further commitment to our long-term player development pathway. Many of the current Reserves have come through Roy and Simon’s youth sides, and this continuity is something we value highly.

They will be joined by Chris Geldart, who remains as Reserves Coach and completes the new-look Reserves management team.

Rupesh Sashte Appointed First Team Physiotherapist

We’re also pleased to welcome Rupesh Sashte as our new First Team Physiotherapist.

Rupesh brings with him a strong academic and professional background, holding an MSc in Sports & Exercise Medicine and an MSc in Sports Nutrition. He is currently serving as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Cambridge University Hospital (Addenbrooke’s), where he supports patients and athletes in achieving peak physical function and recovery.

His expertise in both rehabilitation and performance support will be a valuable asset as we continue to prioritise player wellbeing, injury prevention, and optimal performance throughout the campaign.

These changes reflect the club’s continued commitment to promoting from within, recognising staff excellence, and building a structure that supports player development at every level.

We wish Franco, Roy, Simon, and Rupesh all the very best in their new roles as we prepare for the season ahead. Up the Crows!
