Man Utd risk losing their star transfer target after latest Tottenham update

0 0

Manchester United are yet to make a marquee signing since recruiting Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of this window.

They are in talks with Brentford to bring Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford.

Negotiations have now stretched past a month, with Brentford standing firm despite two formal bids from United.

The Bees have already rejected two bids from United, with the latest offer being worth £55 million and £7.5m in add-ons.

It was reported recently that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a summer swoop for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, any deal for Wissa would make Mbeumo’s proposed move to United increasingly difficult.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly pulling out all the stops to back new manager Thomas Frank, who could push for a reunion with Wissa.

The London outfit have already agreed to sign West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus.

We believe United must accelerate their pursuit of Mbeumo before it is too late.

In a market where players like Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro, Noni Madueke, and Kudus are all commanding fees north of £50m, Brentford’s valuation no longer looks outrageous.

United paid a similar sum for Cunha, and Brentford now have every reason to demand comparable money up front for Mbeumo.

With pre-season training already underway at Carrington, time is slipping away for United to integrate key reinforcements.

United head coach Ruben Amorim will ideally want Mbeumo to be a part of his squad that travels to the United States this month.

With Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony all on the chopping block, United desperately need at least two new attacking additions.

Mbeumo could be a brilliant fit for the 3-4-2-1 system but this transfer delay only risks undermining the club’s momentum.
