Celtics Thank Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday After Trades Finalize

The Boston Celtics officially lost two members of their championship core on Monday.

The NBA finally processed the paperwork on a pair of trades that sent center Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks and guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, putting a bow on the deals despite them being reported weeks ago.

Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens released a statement regarding the deals, in which he thanked the two champions for their contributions to the historic franchise.

“We are so thankful for KP and Jrue and the time we had together in Boston. They were great Celtics whose impact on our organization went well beyond the court,” Stevens said. “They were integral parts of two great teams, including one which brought us all a new banner. Their impact on this organization will last a long time, and we look forward to celebrating them when they return to (TD) Garden this season.”

The C’s also posted a pair of tributes on X.

Holiday’s trade did have some modifications, as his recent health screening ultimately showed enough for the Trail Blazers to rescind the two second-round picks they initially intended on sending the Celtics.
