Catch Up On The Bike With Kieron Bowie
Kieron Bowie discusses international honours, a “tough” first Hibs pre-season and the campaign ahead – all while riding on a bike!
The 22-year-old caught up with Hibs TV while pedaling around Hibs’ training camp in the Netherlands, taking on questions while ensuring he remained on his bike and battling the summer sun.
This is Bowie’s first pre-season with the Club since signing in August 2024, with the forward returning in time for the training camp – which he describes as “tough” – following his productive time away with the Scotland National Team.
“The summer break was really short but to get away with Scotland, and to make my debut, is something I never thought I’d be able to say. It’s an unbelievable honour and achievement for myself. Credit to everyone who helped me along the way.
“I only got back fit towards the end of the season, so for Steve Clarke to come along and see me play well in the few games I did play is really good. I’m glad to have been there and played.
“It was a short week away. It’s a level above. A few players play in the Premier League, a few play in Serie A. You start shaky, but by the end of the week you step up a little and do better than you had originally been doing. By the end of the week, I felt comfortable.”
Bowie made his international debut in a 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein over the break, with his selection coming off the back of his strong end to the 2024/25 campaign in green and white.
This exciting end to the campaign did not come easy, however. Bowie had missed four months of action during the season due to a hamstring injury sustained while performing for the Scotland Under-21s.
“Everyone says in football that there are a lot of ups and downs, and that was a summary of my season. It was up at the start signing here, of course. Then it was down not even a month later [with the injury].
“To represent my country is unbelievable. It just goes to show you have to keep working hard and it will pay off.”
“This season is going to be a big one for myself and the team,” Bowie added. “This is the first full pre-season I have had in a while.
“I need to work hard this pre-season, I’ve also been working by myself trying to maintain my fitness.
“I feel like, from now, I just need to kick on and stay fit to be ready for the first matches we have next month.”
