Bournemouth Poppies 0-6 Poole Town: Match Report
After a 70 day break from Poole Town action, the Dolphins are finally back and kick-started their pre-season campaign with a 6-0 win against Bournemouth Poppies at the County Ground.
New signings Josh McCormick, Ryan Campbell, Shaq Gwengwe, Ik Hill, Corey Jordan and Henry Spalding all made the starting eleven against the Wessex Premier League side.
The match got underway on a cloudy afternoon at the County Ground with Poole setting the tempo early on.
It took until the 14th minute for the deadlock to be broken as Keelan O’Connell’s strike found the back of the net to give Poole a deserved lead.
Only moments later, Poole doubled their lead through a Charlie Davis spot kick to make it 2-0 on the 20th minute mark.
New signing Henry Spalding made it three with a fantastic finish into the roof of the net to give us a 3-0 lead going into the break with our domination and attacking prowess on show for all to see.
The Dolphins came out for the second half in similar fashion with the introduction of the likes of Kris Campbell and Antonio Diaz.
Campbell went close on the 50th minute but was unable to keep his free kick down as it narrowly flew over the crossbar.
Shaq Gwengwe ensured he got his name on the scoresheet as he scored a quick fire brace to make it 5-0 to Poole.
With a few minutes left before the final whistle, great link up play between Sampson and Diaz led to Slade finishing the move off nicely and securing a 6-0 win at the County Ground.
A fantastic run out for the lads and a performance which certainly holds much optimism for the season ahead.
