'My understanding is..': Fabrizio Romano drops 'no one' bombshell update in Sancho transfer saga
Manchester United are eager to clear the decks and usher in a new era under manager Ruben Amorim next season.
Jadon Sancho sits at the top of that list and does not have a future at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, but Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the speculation.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “My understanding is that the situation between Fenerbahce and Sancho is very quiet.
“At the moment, no one wants to cover the full salary of Sancho. Fenerbahce does not look like a concrete destination for the player.”
This big update from Romano is a bitter pill for United fans, many of whom were hoping to see the back of the England winger this summer.
Sancho spent the 2024–25 campaign on loan at Chelsea, where he struggled for consistency and managed just seven goal contributions in 31 league matches.
The Blues had an option to sign the forward permanently, which triggered when they finished in the top 13 of the league.
However, they did not want to break their wage structure and meet Sancho’s demands.
Chelsea were happy to pay a £5 million penalty and send him back to Old Trafford.
United are open to selling Sancho for a cut-price fee of £20m–£25m, but his sky-high wages continue to be a massive stumbling block.
The Red Devils had handed him a staggering £250,000-a-week deal when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 amid huge fanfare.
Once hailed as a generational talent, Sancho has endured a dramatic fall from grace, and it now seems unlikely any club will match his current earnings.
