PL club reject £62.5m offer from Man Utd for 20-goal star, he wants Old Trafford move
Manchester United have been dealt a frustrating blow in their bid to land Brentford’s electric forward Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are eyeing a move for Brentford’s Mbeumo.
The Old Trafford outfit tabled an initial offer of £45 million plus £10m in add-ons but that was swiftly rebuffed.
According to The Athletic, United returned with an improved second offer worth £55m upfront and an additional £7.5m in bonuses, only to face another rejection.
The 25-year-old has made it clear to Brentford that he wants to move to the Theatre of Dreams.
The Cameroon international is coming off a sensational season, racking up 20 goals and eight assists in all competitions, firmly establishing himself as one of the league’s most productive attackers.
He could be a dream partner for Cunha in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
He could seamlessly adapt to the right-sided number 10 role, allowing Amad Diallo to start in the right wing-back position.
Thomas Frank has joined Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy wants to make Mbeumo his marquee signing.
However, the forward has also informed Spurs that he wants to join United.
An offer of £62.5m is a very fair proposal for Brentford, but it seems they want over £60m as a fixed payment.
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs but the Red Devils are determined not to overpay for their transfer targets.
They have been forced to pay the ‘United tax’ over the last decade but INEOS are desperate to run the club more efficiently.
