Tottenham have a host of suitors for 7-goal defender ahead of Thomas Frank decision
New reports suggest that Tottenham face a major Luka Vuskovic decision as the young defender attracts interest across Europe.
For a club that was thin in defence last season, Tottenham Hotspur look very stacked in that position, thanks to a few new additions.
Luka Vuskovic has returned from loan, and so has Ashley Phillips. Spurs have also added a new defender to their ranks, after it was revealed that Kota Takai is expected to complete a transfer from Japan to England in the coming days.
With seven recognised centre-backs at the club, some of whom are still young, it is expected that a decision regarding who stays or goes will need to be made soon.
Tottenham wonderkid Luka Vuskovic attracting interest as Thomas Frank makes decision
Of course, given Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League registration issue, where they have to fit 31 players into just 22 available slots in the Champions League squad, the loaning of some youngsters is very much on the cards.
With the squad presently packed in the centre-back department, it is reported that Thomas Frank will have to decide on which of the young new arrivals will remain with the squad and which ones will be sent out on loan to continue their development.
With a decision pending, Football.London has now revealed that Spurs are yet to decide on the fate one one of their centre-backs – Luka Vuskovic.
The 18-year-old centre-back has just returned from loan this summer after spending last season with Belgian side Westerlo, where he not only thrived defensively but also found the back of the net frequently. The Croatia centre-back found the back of the net an impressive seven times!
It is now being claimed that, should Thomas Frank opt to loan Vuskovic out this summer, the Croat would not be short of options, as several clubs around Europe are said to be sniffing around the centre-back.
Luka Vuskovic loan could backfire if Spurs face another injury crisis
Of course, Spurs need to be careful when loaning out players this campaign, as they struggled defensively last season when an injury crisis hit North London.
With more games expected to be played this campaign, a bigger squad would be needed, which means Tottenham would need to have more than their five senior centre-backs.
Vuskovic has been loaned out twice since Tottenham secured his services two seasons ago, and with experience playing consistent football and even for Croatia, one would believe that the 18-year-old is ready to be part of the Spurs squad.
