Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke agree Tottenham fans did something special on May 1

0 4

Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke have now lauded Tottenham’s home support after that electric Europa League night against Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final.

More often than not, successful clubs have turned their home ground into a fortress, a place opposition teams dread to visit.

In fact, teams that win the League or go far in European competitions rely heavily on their home support, as we have seen with Liverpool, Real Madrid and the likes.

For Tottenham Hotspur, during the 2024/25 season, the home support was often criticised for not being loud enough, particularly in the Premier League.

But who could blame the home fans when the team simply did not give them enough to shout about last season?

Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke reflect on Tottenham home atmosphere

In Europe, though, especially in the knockout tie against Bodo/Glimt, the Spurs supporters ramped up the atmosphere.

White scarves, singing, and a bouncing atmosphere were what the Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt were welcomed with when they visited the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the semi-final of the Europa League.

In a tie that was a must-win, the electric atmosphere gave the Tottenham players the lift they needed, and now Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke have opened up on what it was like on that night.

The two Spurs forwards have labelled the atmosphere against Glimt as one of the best that they have been in. Johnson described the atmosphere as ‘incredible’, stating that it gave them an extra 1%, helping them to zone in.

Johnson told Spursplay: “Everyone was wearing the white t-shirts. The sound was incredible. I think it just gives you that 1% extra, it makes you really zone in and realise that these people truly want you to be your best. I have heard some great atmospheres, but this one was different.”

Dominic Solanke was also quick to praise the ‘To Dare Is To Do’ tifo that was organised by THFC Flags, and described the atmosphere as ‘amazing’.

The forward added: “When we walked out, seeing the writing in the crowd, one of the best atmospheres I have been involved in, it was amazing.”

Spurs did go on to win the tie against Glimt, beating the Norwegian champions 3-1 at home and then 2-0 in the return leg.

The atmosphere during the final in Bilbao was also good, as the Tottenham faithful remained behind their team throughout the clash against Manchester United, helping the side secure their first piece of silverware since 2008.
