Red Sox’s Craig Breslow Doubles Down, Plans To Buy At Trade Deadline

The Red Sox haven’t exactly looked like a winning squad since trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.

(No, we aren’t surprised by that.)

Boston has won just three of nine games without their best hitter. Alex Cora has been ejected twice. The Los Angeles Angels just pantsed them in a series that was never all that close.

Craig Breslow, the man who pulled the trigger on that trade, will be tasked with deciding whether or not he should add prior to the trade deadline. WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” had him on for his weekly guest spot on Tuesday, and asked the man himself about his potential approach several weeks out.

“We would be looking to improve our team,” “We would be looking to improve our team for 2025, because despite the fact we haven’t strung together the consistent level of performance that we think we’re capable of, we’re still staring down a wild card chance… We think we have a good chance to make a deep postseason run.

“We’re still looking at the trade deadline as an opportunity to bolster the team. We want to add to this team and we want to improve our chances down the stretch. We believe in this team.”

The Red Sox undoubtedly need to kick it into gear before their chief baseball officer actually pulls the trigger on buying, though.

It’s a lot easier to sell off pieces and prepare for the future than try to sneak into the postseason, after all.
