Man Utd could slash price by £20m to sell Chelsea & Aston Villa target, 21-G/A last season - report
Manchester United could accept £40 million to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho, who has been linked with Chelsea and Aston Villa.
The Argentina international had a productive 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils, making 21 goal contributions from 58 games.
However, he is expected to leave the club this summer following a fallout with manager Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho was only a late substitute in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
He did not make the squad for the final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa.
Amorim has reportedly told Garnacho to find a new club. This could hamper United’s prospects of securing a high premium fee for his exit.
According to The Mirror, United want £60 million for their academy graduate, but that is highly unlikely to be met, given the fallout with Amorim.
Clubs are aware that United’s hierarchy want to get rid of him too. £40m would be a more realistic price.
United still stand to secure pure profit under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), having signed Garnacho as a 15-year-old from Atletico Madrid.
Man Utd poised to part ways with Garnacho
Garnacho has had to adapt since Amorim took over as the club’s manager. He is a specialist left winger but has played as a number 10 under the Portuguese.
The Argentine made some goal contributions towards the end of the campaign but was not pleased after being dropped from the XI for the Europa League final.
His comments probably contributed to his axe from the matchday squad against Villa.
In our view, he may have played his final competitive game for United, given they have already signed Matheus Cunha to bolster the attacking midfield department.
Talks are also advanced with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. It appears only a matter of time before the Cameroon international makes the switch to Old Trafford.
United will need to recoup funds to stay with the PSR spending limits. Garnacho looks poised to depart, considering he would provide pure profit as a graduate.
Garnacho has his sights on staying in the Premier League. Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested, and the winger was recently spotted donning the club’s jersey on holiday.
Chelsea have held an interest in Garnacho since January, when his agent was spotted at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues could negotiate a deal for the Argentine, with Christopher Nkunku moving the other way in a separate transfer. United have made contact with the latter’s agent.
