Alasdair Gold predicts how many signings Tottenham will make before pre-season
Alasdair Gold has made an exciting prediction regarding what Tottenham fans can expect the club to do in the transfer window over the next few weeks.
The Thomas Frank era at Spurs has now begun and we are just weeks away from the start of pre-season.
Tottenham have a busy pre-season schedule with some tasty fixtures, with the club set to embark on a pre-season trip to Asia, which includes a clash against Arsenal in Hong Kong.
Frank certainly does not have an easy start to life as Spurs boss, with his first competitive fixture in charge being the UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG on August 13, just three days before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
Alasdair Gold expects several new faces to arrive soon
Mathys Tel has become the first signing of the Thomas Frank era at Spurs, with the club securing the Frenchman permanently from Bayern Munich on the back of his loan spell at N17 over the last six months.
The supporters are restless to see more new faces arrive through the door, and Gold has revealed that they would not have to wait for long, predicting that two or three signings could be completed before pre-season gets underway.
When asked how many signings he expects Tottenham to make before the start of pre-season, Gold said in a Q&A on Football.London: “The club moved pretty quickly when Postecoglou was appointed two years ago so hopefully they spring into action soon.
“I’d expect two or three signings by that point, but that might depend on some outgoings as well to ensure there’s the space more than anything. Technically, I think the first friendly though will be around July 19.”
Which deals are Tottenham currently working on?
Tottenham Hotspur have tended to operate in secrecy since Johan Lange arrived through the door as technical director, which makes it difficult to ascertain who the club’s top targets are.
Reports indicate that Frank is prioritising strengthening Tottenham’s attack, which is understandable given the doubts over Heung-min Son’s Spurs future.
It has been rumoured that Tottenham are working on deals to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze, among others.
