Did David Ortiz Take Shot At Rafael Devers In Social Media Post?
David Ortiz stands with the Boston Red Sox as it relates to the breakup with Rafael Devers.
The legendary slugger, who remains a special assistant for the organization, seemed to take a shot at the San Francisco Giants slugger on Friday.
“The thing is that to have some like this at boston you have to just not be a hitter you have to be the full package a all the way around Player,” Ortiz posted to his Instagram with a photo of him standing his No. 34 monument at Fenway Park. “… go sox.”
Ortiz added: “best organization in baseball.”
The social media activity surfaced after Ortiz had a team-first reaction to the trade last week. The Red Sox traded Devers to the Giants in a four-player deal on Sunday.
Ortiz also expressed how he reached out to Devers when the relationship between team and player was starting to fracture, but never heard back from him.
Ironically, the Red Sox are in San Francisco this weekend for a three-game series with the Giants. Devers went 0-for-5 in Boston’s 7-5 victory on Friday night and the two sides with clash again Saturday afternoon.
