Bruins Rumors: Top NHL Free Agent Linked To Boston

The Boston Bruins have the chance to improve their forward group when NHL free agency starts.

According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the Bruins could possibly go after Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser as he hits free agency.

Boeser announced after the Canucks’ season ended that Vancouver is most likely not going to re-sign him, meaning he will test free agency.

“Honestly, it’s unlikely at this point,” Boeser said, according to NHL.com. “It (stinks). It’s unfortunate. I’m just trying to play good hockey and then I’ll worry about everything after that. We all know it’s been a roller coaster of a year. There’s been a lot of different things.”

The 28-year-old winger is coming off his third consecutive 50-plus point season. Through 75 games during the 2024-25 season, Boeser totaled 50 points on 25 goals and 25 assists with 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-15.

While the 6-foot-1, 208 pound forward had a drop in production from his 2023-24 campaign, where he had 73 points, he still has a lot of upside that the Bruins could benefit from.

Boeser’s production would be a boost to Boston’s lineup and would also bring consistency to the Bruins’ lineup. His shot is what jumps out about him, allowing him to be a goal scorer from anywhere on the ice.

He is projected to sign a contract around the six years, $8.46 million per year range. With the Bruins having some money to play around with in the salary cap, Boeser isn’t out of the question.

The NHL free agency period is set to begin on July 1 at 12 p.m. ET, meaning any player that is a free agent is allowed to negotiate a contract with any NHL team.
