Tottenham explore exciting loan move for a three-time Premier League winner
Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for an experienced England international, who has been put in the shop window, but they face one major stumbling block in getting the deal over the line this summer.
It has emerged over recent days that Thomas Frank is prioritising strengthening Tottenham’s attack ahead of his first season in charge of the North London club.
According to reports, Tottenham hold a genuine interest in Jack Grealish, who is free to leave Manchester City this summer.
Some sources have even suggested that Daniel Levy sees Grealish as a marquee signing he can deliver this summer ahead of the Lilywhites’ return to the Champions League.
Tottenham exploring a loan move for Jack Grealish but face one roadblock
TEAMtalk have now become the latest outlet to talk up Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the Man City star, who is free to leave the Etihad Stadium after being left out of the Club World Cup squad.
The outlet says that Frank is keen to add more firepower to his frontline despite the arrival of Mathys Tel, and has set his sights on Grealish.
The report alleges that Pep Guardiola’s men are ready to sell the 29-year-old for around £50m this summer, and Spurs have explored both a permanent deal as well as a loan move for the England international.
However, it is explained that the former Aston Villa man’s £280,000-a-week salary would be a significant stumbling block for Tottenham as it would put him out of the club’s tight wage structure.
Spurs may have advantage over Premier League rivals in Grealish race
TEAMtalk say that Everton are also keen on landing Grealish and have already expressed a strong interest in signing him on loan this summer.
However, the Toffees have made it clear that Man City have to cover a significant portion of the winger’s wages for them to afford a loan deal.
It is suggested that Everton’s financial constraints may give Spurs the edge in the race for Grealish, but the experienced attacker would have to adjust his demands to complete a move to N17.
