Thomas Frank singles out Tottenham player who he is sure he can help ‘score a lot of goals’
Thomas Frank has now sent a message to Tottenham fans after being confirmed as head coach, outlining what supporters can expect in the season ahead.
A new era has begun for the 16th time in north London, after Tottenham confirmed the appointment of former Brentford boss Thomas Frank on June 12.
Daniel Levy has since revealed that Spurs believe Frank is the man who can lead them forward, after he emerged as their number one target amongst 30 other candidates.
The Spurs chairman also stated that he wants Tottenham to continue winning following their recent triumph in Europe last season, adding that he wants the big trophies – the Premier League and Champions League.
Thomas Frank admits he is a fan of Domic Solanke
Thomas Frank knows that his objective is to keep Tottenham competitive on all fronts, but a greater emphasis will be placed on the Premier League after their poor showing last season, when they finished in 17th place.
The former Brentford manager has now spoken to the club’s media, addressing the fans about what they can expect during the season and praised some members of the Tottenham first-team squad.
Frank revealed that he is a big admirer of Dominic Solanke’s ability as a striker and confidently claimed that he believes he can help him to score goals.
The head coach also name-dropped Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison as two players within his thought process, while also singling out some of the younger talent within the first-team who have a high ceiling of potential.
He told the club’s official site: “I’m looking from the outside, so I’m looking forward to to getting to know them, you know, to be around them, to feel them, to understand them, to work with them on a training pitch.
“That’s where you really get the big understanding and understand the relationships between players and how you can get the best out of them.
“Of course, I’ve got an idea already. You know, my head is spinning. ‘How can we play?’ I will put them together and all that. But, yeah, before that. When I say talented, it’s also, it’s not only the young players, is also some of the more experienced players.
“How can we get the best out of them? Let’s say Dominic Solanke, I’m a big fan of him in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals. How can we play Bentancur, Maddison, these? How can we get that? But of course, the younger ones as well.
“I think it’s all players that we need to develop and make perform on the highest level. But of course, Bergvall, Archie Gray, Odobert, Udogie, all of them, I think have have a high ceiling. There’s others I haven’t mentioned in the whole squad, and I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s always about winning. We need to make the team win on a Saturday and a Tuesday and a Saturday, and on the Wednesday.
“It’s also about developing the individual player, and that’s me and my staff and the player. So how we work together about that on a day-to-day basis. Because if we lift the player’s performance or develop them, the team will grow, perform better, hopefully, opportunities to win more matches”
What lies ahead for Thomas Frank and Spurs
The Premier League fixtures of the 25/26 season have been released, and Thomas Frank now knows exactly what lies ahead of him in the coming season.
It sure would be a different season for the 51-year-old, who would have to juggle European commitments with domestic ones for the first time in his career as manager.
Indeed, if Tottenham are to give themselves a chance of competing, more depth would need to be added to their squad. However, since the permanent signing of both Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso, no further additions have been made.
For fans eager to see Thomas Frank’s first game as Spurs boss, it has been revealed that on July 26, Frank will lead Tottenham for the first time as head coach, when they take on Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in a pre-season friendly clash.
