Vinai Venkatesham outlines his three Tottenham priorities as new era approaches
Tottenham’s new CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, has finally lifted the lid on what his key focus will be at Spurs, as the club continues to reshape itself from top to bottom.
Change has been the theme at Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, with the club preparing for a fresh chapter ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The overhaul began in April, when Vinai Venkatesham arrived from Arsenal to take up the role of chief executive officer at Spurs, with reports suggesting it could mark the end of the Scott Munn era.
Since his appointment, there has been a flurry of movement behind the scenes, including the exit of Donna-Maria Cullen, the departure of assistant head coach Ryan Mason, and the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, alongside several members of his backroom staff.

The changes have not stopped there, as Tottenham have now hired a new head coach in Thomas Frank to take charge ahead of the 2025/26 season, as the club plots a fresh path under new leadership.
Chairman Daniel Levy has also publicly declared his ambitions for the club, stating that he wants Tottenham to win both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League in the years ahead.
Vinai Venkatesham has now detailed his three key priorities in his role, making it clear that his immediate focus is on developing both the men’s and women’s football departments, listening actively to fans, and engaging closely with staff across all levels at Hotspur Way.
Speaking via the official Tottenham Hotspur website, he said: “I am very focused on spending a lot of time to understand what is important to our supporters. So I am listening, I am watching, I am reading, and I am speaking to supporters.
“Some of that is structured, so I have meetings with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust and the Fan Advisory Board coming up in the next couple of weeks, and I want to learn. I want to learn what is on the mind of our supporters.
“The final priority for me is spending time with as many of our 800 people [employees] as I can. Understanding from them what the club does brilliantly well that we can build on, and what are the areas where we can improve. Because we want this to be the best possible football club it can be and we have 800 supremely talented people in this organisation, and we want to make sure that we get the most out of them to further the club.”
He continued: “I think the club has got wonderful foundations. I am biased. I grew up in London, so I think the club is based in the greatest city in the world. It has an outstanding stadium and training centre, and it has a huge global fan base.
“The foundations are brilliant, but I would not be here if I did not think that there was another level that this football club can get to. We got a bit of a taste of that in Bilbao. I think everyone associated with the club wants more of that. And I think there is another level this club can get to and I would not be here if I did not think that level was there.”
Spurs fans await action from new leadership
These do feel like exciting times for Tottenham supporters, but they will be hoping that this is not just more talk from the boardroom. There needs to be follow-through, with visible actions to reinforce the optimism.
It was revealed a few days ago that the Tottenham hierarchy will be meeting with Spurs fans to listen to their concerns and ideas ahead of the new season.
There have also been strong indications that Tottenham are planning to back Thomas Frank in the current window, with the club already sealing permanent deals for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel, and further additions are expected in the coming weeks.
