Nottingham Forest could be tested for one of their wingers this summer after a club’s manager made an ‘explicit request’ that he be signed.
Forest are preparing for a campaign involving European football next season, albeit one with the slight disappointment they did not qualify for the Champions League.
The City Ground side are shopping in Brazil to strengthen the squad and are expected to land Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair from Botafogo when the FIFA Club World Cup ends.
They will have to deal with interest in their own players though and now winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is a wanted man.
The winger has fallen onto the radar of Italian champions Napoli, who have just signed Kevin De Bruyne.
Hudson-Odoi is, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, an ‘explicit request’ from boss Antonio Conte.
Conte knows all about Hudson-Odoi’s qualities from his time as Chelsea manager and has asked Napoli to bring him to Italy.
The former Chelsea boss’ influence at Napoli is sky high after he led the club to the Serie A title in the recent season.
Conte now wants to make his squad even better and Napoli have been working on a deal for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
They are even suggested to be ahead in the race to sign the Uruguayan from the English champions this summer.
Conte now sees Hudson-Odoi as being able to provide the service that his Napoli attackers, including potentially Nunez, could benefit from next season.
It is unclear at what level of offer Nottingham Forest might consider selling, or whether Hudson-Odoi would like the move to the Italian giants, who are in next season’s Champions League.
