AFC Scout Believes Patriots ‘Not That Far Away’ After 2025 NFL Draft
The New England Patriots were one of the most active teams this offseason, making changes in almost every area.
And because of that, they earned recognition from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who spoke with NFL executives and scouts about their favorite 2025 offseason move.
The Patriots received a mention from one AFC scout.
“I didn’t love their (2024) draft, but I thought they did great this year,” the scout told Fowler. “Kyle Williams has a chance to be a real player. They haven’t had an impact receiver there in a while. A lot of teams loved (running back) TreVeyon Henderson. And we were really high on (No. 4 pick) Will Campbell. I don’t think they are that far away.”
Considering where they were last year, having only won four games despite having a talented quarterback, it seemed they were very far away. However, the addition of Mike Vrabel and his coaching staff, along with impressive roster moves, the team has completely turned things around.
New England has also not been known for having solid drafts, but that changed when they focused on taking the best players available in 2025.
Running back wasn’t a huge need for the Patriots, but with TreVeyon Henderson still available in the second round, they couldn’t pass up on adding such a talented weapon. And the same happened in the third round when they drafted Kyle Williams.
Of course, we also can’t forget about Will Campbell, who was the Patriots’ taking the best player available, but also filling one of the biggest holes on the roster.
This is certainly a good start to the 2025 season.
