Academy coaching Announcement

QUEEN’S PARK FC is pleased to announce the head coaches of the under-17 and under-19 squads for the forthcoming season.

Charley King will oversee the Spiders’ under-19s squad while Lee Mitchell heads up the Spiders’ under-17s.

Both are well known and respected as two of the top youth coaches in the country and the club is delighted both opted against other offers to remain at Lochinch as the club transitions to Advanced Youth level within the new Academy structure.

Charley has been at the club for 17 years working his way from the under 10s through to a stint helping the first team on an interim basis 18 months ago. He is also involved in the SFA performance school programme, coaching some of Scotland’s best young players and working alongside current head-coach Sean Crighton at Holyrood Secondary.

Lee has coached with the club for eight years either side of a spell away at St Mirren. He returned to the club to take on the head of youth phase role, looking after the under 13s through to 16s age groups in the previous Elite Academy structure.

Both will play key roles in the player pathway from the new-look youth structure to the first-team

Fixtures for the age-group teams are in the process of being confirmed with recruitment underway for each squad.

The Scottish FA has published an explainer document detailing the new Academy structure across Scotland.

Look out for new Queen’s Park Academy accounts on social media platforms over the next few weeks to follow all the latest news from both squads.
