Morgan Rogers says Tottenham midfielder is better than Arsenal’s Kai Havertz
There has been a lot of debate in the English media over whether James Maddison ranks among the elite in the Premier League, and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers certainly thinks the Tottenham star does.
Maddison has come in for a lot of criticism from pundits for last season, but most Spurs fans will agree that he was one of the club’s best players whenever he was on the pitch.
The 28-year-old will now have to wait to find out if he has a prominent role under new boss Thomas Frank.
Some outlets previously suggested that Tottenham may cash in on Maddison if Postecoglou is sacked, but that appears unlikely given that the attacking midfielder finished the season with a formidable return of 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers was doing a blind ranking of the best number tens in world football in a TikTok challenge with Puma.
Brazilian legend Neymar took the top place in the Rogers’ list, but his rankings will irritate Arsenal fans as Maddison was placed higher than Kai Havertz.
That suggests that despite being a lightning rod for criticism from pundits, the Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder is still rated very highly by his peers.
Could Maddison be the next Spurs captain?
There is a big question mark over Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham, with reports indicating that Tottenham could cash in on their captain amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Cristian Romero also continues to be heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid and Spurs are waiting to find out if the Argentine will remain with the club after Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.
If Son and Romero depart the club, Maddison would be the obvious choice for Thomas Frank to turn to for the captaincy, with the former Leicester City man showcasing his leadership skills from the day he arrived at N17 two years ago.
