Rafael Devers To Wear New Number After Trade To Giants
Rafael Devers will have a new look with the San Francisco Giants.
The Boston Red Sox made the shocking decision to end his prolific and all-too-short career with the franchise on Sunday, shipping him off to the other side of the country. It’ll take a while for fans on both sides to get used to their new reality, but especially since he can’t wear his old number.
Devers will turn in his old No. 11 for No. 16.
The Giants previously retired the slugger’s old digits in honor of Carl Hubbell, who was the first player to be honored in such a way in the National League. Hubbell, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947, was a two-time MVP across his 16-season stint with the franchise.
How do you feel about Devers’ new digs, Sox fans?
