Tottenham player tipped to be regular starter under Thomas Frank despite exit rumours
Transfer market expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that one Tottenham man, who has been heavily linked with a departure this summer, might become a regular starter under Thomas Frank.
Just days after Frank officially took over as Spurs head coach, we have already seen Tottenham push ahead with a big-money move for Bryan Mbeumo.
That potentially means that other players from the Spurs forward line could be sacrificed, with reports indicating Tottenham may decide to cash in on Richarlison this summer.
However, a new update has now suggested that the Brazilian may not just stay put at Spurs, but may also get a new lease of life under the Danish coach.
Thomas Frank backed to use Richarlison as his Tottenham number-nine
Graeme Bailey has now revealed that he has been speaking with someone who knows the new Tottenham head coach well, and the source believes that the former Everton man could overtake Dominic Solanke as Spurs’ main centre-forward.
The journalist explained that Richarlison has already turned down a move to Saudi Arabia and is keen to play as a number nine next season, and he may get his wish at Spurs rather than needing to find a new club.
Bailey told TBR Football: “Really interesting, Richarlison. Actually, I was speaking to someone who knows Thomas Frank very well. Just in general about everything and they were saying to me, don’t be surprised if Richarlison becomes that front man for Thomas Frank. He loves that sort of mobile closing down.
“And let’s not forget when Thomas Frank comes in. I’m not and I’m not denigrating Solanke or anything, but he might end up being the Spurs starting number nine. Richarlison wants to be starting and not just start, he wants to be the number nine.
“And I think it’s fascinating. I didn’t really take that into account. I thought Richarlison would be going. We know everything like him and a possible loan deal etc. And we know he’s already rejected Saudi. He doesn’t want to go to Saudi at this point in his career. But I think it’s one to keep an eye on.”
Alasdair Gold makes claim about Dominic Solanke under Frank
While Bailey has suggested that Richarlison might overtake Solanke as Tottenham’s main striker next season, another reliable journalist expects just the opposite to happen.
Alasdair Gold believes that Solanke will take his game to a new level under Frank, insisting that the Dane’s system will suit the Englishman down to a tee.
The journalist pointed to Frank’s ability to get the best out of attacking players at Brentford and has backed him to do the same with the England striker at Tottenham.
