20yo Man United starlet 'unlikely' to secure Bundesliga transfer this summer
Manchester United sensation Alejandro Garnacho is staring at an uncertain future amid growing speculation of a summer exit from Old Trafford.
According to reputed journalist Florian Plettenberg, a move of Garnacho to Bayer Leverkusen is currently very unlikely.
Leverkusen are currently focused on other options due to the high transfer fee and wages.
United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly told Garnacho to find a new club for next season.
Garnacho last played in the 1-0 defeat to the UEFA Europa League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Amorim dropped him from the starting XI and only gave him a brief cameo in the all-important final.
Garnacho publicly criticised Amorim after the game, forcing the manager to drop him from the squad for the final game of the campaign.
The 20-year-old winger rose to prominence under Erik ten Hag, making waves with his fearless displays after graduating from the youth ranks.
Change of formation hampered his progress under Amorim.
The Portuguese fields his team in a 3-4-2-1 formation where traditional wingers don’t have a place.
Garnacho thrives on hugging the touchline, using his explosive pace and dribbling to stretch defences and create space.
Despite United’s underwhelming season, the Argentine still managed an eye-catching return of 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
His stats could have looked even better had he sharpened his decision-making in the final third.
Letting Garnacho go would offer a financial boost for United but at the cost of losing one of their brightest attacking sparks.
While Leverkusen may have pulled out, Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation closely and could pounce if he becomes available.
Napoli is another top club that have been linked with signing Garnacho this summer.
