Queen’s Park bring former Aberdeen striker back to join First team squad
QUEEN’S PARK FC can confirm the return of Michael Ruth to the club this summer.
A former youth player at the Spiders, Michael already has already registered 10 appearances for the first-team.
Now, he is determined to add to that figure and the goal he scored against Albion Rovers some six years ago.
Last season he played at Dumbarton, scoring 11 goals in 29 starts for the Sons.
Prior to that was another season in William Hill League One, at Queen of the South and loan spells at Falkirk and Arbroath from parent club Aberdeen.
Michael said: “I’m buzzing to be back to be fair.
“A lot has changed at the club since I was last here back in 2019.
“There are still some familiar faces, and there are a few changes at Lesser to say the least, but Lochinch is new to me – it’s a brilliant facility that wasn’t there when I left and I’m buzzing to get in there for pre-season.”
The surroundings are not the only elements that have changed over time.
He added: “I’ve change massively too. I left at 17, went up to Aberdeen and moved around clubs a bit, but I really settled in at Dumbarton the most. That’s where I kicked on and that’s put me in a much better position to come here in the Championship to do well.
“That’s where I met Sean Crighton too, I know he’s done well as a coach and I know he’s a good guy who I respect and I look forward to working with him.”
Queen’s Park head-coach Sean Crighton added: “I know exactly what I’ll get from Michael.
“He will set the tone from the top end of the pitch and I’m delighted he is in.
“I’m bringing in players who have been in the Championship before, and have experience of playing week-in, week-out for other clubs and still at a good age to progress.
“I want this to be a platform for bigger and better things for players.
“Michael Ruth is a good finisher and fits the bill of what I’ve been looking for.”
