Introducing our Director of Football
AFC Fylde are delighted to introduce Stewart Mairs as the club’s Director of Football.
After arriving at Mill Farm back in March, the club now feel it is the appropriate time to introduce our Director of Football as we prepare for the 2025 /26 campaign.
Mairs joined the club after arriving from DC United in the MLS, where he had took up the role of Director of Soccer Strategy and Analysis in 2016 before being promoted to Technical Director in 2019.
He also worked as part of the establishment of Loudoun United FC, where he added General Manager to his job title alongside his role with DC.
Prior to working at DC where he worked alongside stars such as Wayne Rooney and Christian Benteke, Mairs had previously worked for UK- based, performance analysis and statistics company Prozone.
During a 11-year stint at Prozone, Mairs handled a range of tasks including proving performance analysis support for National teams, whilst also providing business development for over 120 clients including the U.S Soccer Federation, MLS teams and multiple Universities.
He also worked as a consultant for the US Women’s National Team, proving technical and tactical analysis as he helped the side win Gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
Originally from Preston, Mairs arrived back to his home roots towards the back end of last season and will be looking to have a lasting impact in his role of Director of Football at Mill Farm.
Speaking on his first few months at the club, Stewart said: “I’ve had chance to settle in now and first and foremost it’s great to be here.
“I’ve got a really good relationship with the Chairman and I think we both respect each other. In the short time that I’ve been here, we’ve been able to implement a number of processes that will benefit the club in the future.
“Hopefully I can advise the Chairman in the right way, build a strong squad and bring a Head Coach in who can successfully represent the club well and the community.”
A full interview will soon be able with Stewart over on the club website.
