White Sox Release Awesome Video Of Ex-Red Sox Prospect’s Call Up
Kyle Teel didn’t get to finish his journey alongside Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony with the Boston Red Sox.
Teel was traded to the Chicago White Sox back in December, headlining a four-prospect package that sent ace left-hander Garrett Crochet to Boston. It’s not like his story ended there, however, as the young catcher actually found an easier path to the big leagues and was promoted on Friday.
Triple-A Charlotte Knight manager Sergio Santos broke the news, calling back to the day that fellow former Red Sox prospect Chase Meidroth was promoted and needed to find a collared shirt. Teel lended his own, so to replace it, the organization sent one for him to wear on his way to Chicago.
The White Sox shared video from the moment, and you can watch it here.
Teel had a tremendous debut, as well, tallying his first career hit, throwing out a runner and drawing two walks in a 7-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
“This is a dream come true,” Teel said before the game, per the Chicago Tribune‘s Lamond Pope. “I’m trying to soak it all in. It’s something I worked my whole life for. It’s really special.”
