Ange Postecoglou issues emotional farewell statement after Tottenham sacking
Ange Postecoglou has now broken his silence following his dismissal by Tottenham Hotspur, delivering a stirring statement to the Spurs faithful.
Tottenham Hotspur have now given Ange Postecoglou the sack after two years in charge of the Lilywhites following his appointment back in 2023.
The Australian manager has been relieved of his duties as manager following a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw him lead Spurs to a 17th-place finish, the worst ever in the club’s history.
It was not all gloom during Ange Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham, as he delivered on his second-season trophy promise, after Spurs won the Europa League last month, beating Manchester United 1-0 in Spain.

The Australian manager now becomes the 15th manager to receive a sack from chairman Daniel Levy, who has now opted for a fresh start following Ange Postecoglou’s dismal Premier League campaign.
The 59-year-old manager has now released a heartfelt message of thanks and gratitude following his dismissal after only his second season as Tottenham manager.
Ange Postecoglou said, as relayed by CAA Base on X: “When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride.
“The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.
“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible.
“We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them.”
Ange Postecoglou added: “I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. It is important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis.
“And finally. I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. We are forever connected”
Spurs fans will cherish Postecoglou’s legacy
The Tottenham fans are sure to hold the memories Postecoglou gave them dearly, as many fans had never seen this club lift a piece of silverware, while others had waited 17 years to witness another trophy lift, and for many, a European trophy was last seen in 1984.
The Spurs fans would be very grateful to the manager as he ended Tottenham Hotspur’s banter era, and has got supporters believing in their club once more.
Ange Postecoglou has for sure edged his name into Tottenham folklore, but for now, the club must look ahead and build on the success of the Australian as they now go into their summer rebuild ahead of their return to Champions League football next season.
