Man United trio named in England's Women's Euro squad
Manchester United trio Grace Clinton, Maya Le Tissier and Ella Toone have been included in England’s 23-player squad for the upcoming UEFA Women’s Championship in Switzerland.
The Man United stars actively participated for Sarina Wiegman’s side during the qualifiers and are now set to take part in the competition, which will be held between July 2 and 27.
Toone was part of the Lionesses squad that won the competition in 2022. She scored the opener in the final win over Germany.
She also participated in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where England lost to Spain in the final.
By contrast, this will be Clinton and Le Tissier’s first involvement in a major tournament for the 2022 European champions.
The three players had an exceptional season with United and were named in the Barclays Women’s Super League Team of the Season.
Toone was named the club’s Player of the Year and received the Goal of the Season award.
England has been drawn in Group D, where they will face France, who have also named forward Melvine Malard in their squad, the Netherlands, and Wales.
They begin their campaign on July 5 when they face France, then play the Netherlands, and finish their group campaign against Wales.
