Daniel Levy unlikely to meet financial demands to sign ‘fantastic’ attacker

0 7

Daniel Levy is unlikely to break Tottenham Hotspur’s wage structure to sign Leroy Sane, despite the Bayern Munich forward being heavily linked with a move to the club.

Tottenham Hotspur would be desperate to improve their squad ahead of next season, as the north London club makes a return to the UEFA Champions League after two seasons away.

Spurs are reported to be more open-minded this summer, with the possibility of Tottenham landing a marquee signing very much on the cards, as Eberechi Eze and Jack Grealish are reported as potential targets.

Jamie O’Hara has urged Daniel Levy to make Leroy Sane his statement signing of this transfer window, after the German international was offered to Spurs.

Sane has certainly impressed Harry Kane, with the former Spurs forward describing his Bayern team-mate as ‘fantastic’ having seen his quality first-hand (BILD).

Tottenham are unlikely to smash their wage barrier for Sane

Tottenham are very much in the mix to sign Sane, whose £300,000-a-week contract is set to expire this summer and with Arsenal, Saudi Arabian clubs and Turkish giants Galatasaray all keen on the player, he has plenty of options.

Bayern Munich continue to negotiate a new deal with Sane, but the player’s valuation has yet to be met.

Leroy Sane’s wage demands have now been revealed, and it is one Tottenham are not willing to meet, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jones told Transfers From Paradise: “Absolutely not, no. Tottenham remain cautious as they head into the next window. They are open-minded about bringing in a marquee player, but the prospect of them going even beyond £200,000-a-week is unlikely.”

Tottenham should look elsewhere despite Leroy Sane availability

Sane notched 17 goal contributions last season for Bayern Munich after making 30 appearances in the Bundesliga, which are not numbers expected from a marquee signing.

Indeed, Spurs would be better off targeting PSG’s Bradley Barcola, who has double Sane’s goal contribution, with the Parisian man involved in 40 goals for PSG, including an assist in the Champions League final.

Daniel Levy would have to be ready to smash the £200,000-a-week wage structure he has, which is the highest earned by a Tottenham player, if he is to attract the best players.

Spurs have, of course, saved £15.6 million in wages after they let go of four key players, which means there is room for more money to be spent on player wages.
