Grant Savoury contract update
GRANT SAVOURY has signed up to Queen’s Park for season 2025-26 in the William Hill Championship.
The fan favourite spent almost two years on the sidelines through injury but successfully battled back from injury to feature in two games at the end of last season.
Notably, neither game Grant was involved in were defeats with substitute roles in the scoreless stalemate at Hamilton and 2-2 draw in Ayr.
With his contract expiring Sean Crighton made retaining the popular playmaker an early priority this summer – and couldn’t contain his delight at the 24-year-old signing a new deal.
Head-coach Sean Crighton said: “I am really happy we have secured Grant.
“His quality is in no doubt – it’s one of the best I’ve seen in such a short space of time at the end of last season when he began to join in with training – he has a wonderful football brain.
“I watched his attitude in the gym working hard and ensuring he could be injury free by the end of the season.
“I saw him around the rest of the team – even though he was injured, he was contributing. He was brilliant for the rest of the boys. But that experience is massive especially if we get injuries throughout the season and it’s important to me we have good people around the place and Grant is certainly one of them.
“It has been a long process for him and he managed to get on the pitch at the end of last season which was important for him.
“As I mentioned he has a wonderful football brain and I hope he is over his injuries and we can look forward to seeing him on the pitch as often as possible this season.”
Now he has signed up for the new campaign kicking off at The city Stadium next month, Grant added: “I’m delighted to get re-signed after a tough couple of years.
“When the summer came I was one of the ones who wasn’t quite as happy as the others – I was still looking to get more games under my belt.
“It was good to have a nice break but now I’m buzzing for the new season. Pre-season is tough and it will stand us in good stead for the season but it’s the games I can’t wait to get started again.
“I spoke to Sean and I think the way he wants to play suits the way I want to and his gameplan will suit me. It was an easy decision.
“The club has done so much for me and for me it’s about getting games, so it was a no-brainer.”
