Inter Milan without a coach after losing Champions League final

0 3
Inzaghi’s departure leaves Inter Milan with a major decision just ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup and the next Serie A season.

While not yet official, the situation is becoming increasingly clear: Simone Inzaghi is preparing to leave Inter Milan after four successful years to take over as head coach at Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

According to unofficial sources, the Italian coach is expected to earn a net salary of €25 million per season. He will take charge immediately for the FIFA Club World Cup, where Al Hilal will face Real Madrid in their opening match. Meanwhile, Inter are now urgently searching for his replacement — both for the Club World Cup and the 2025–26 season.

Inzaghi departs as one of the most successful managers in recent Inter history. Across 217 matches in four seasons, he boasts the highest win percentage in club history across all competitions, winning 65% of his games.

His trophy haul is impressive — though some might say it could have been even more extensive: one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia wins, three Supercoppa Italiana titles, and two appearances in UEFA Champions League finals. He also took two Serie A campaigns to the final day, narrowly missing out on another title.

Inter eyes Fàbregas as Inzaghi’s successor

Inzaghi’s departure leaves a massive void at Inter, especially considering he helped return the club to the elite of European soccer amid challenging financial conditions. But the club isn’t wasting any time. Their top candidate? Cesc Fàbregas.

Inter’s leadership reportedly sees the Spaniard as the ideal successor. Young, ambitious, and equipped with a clear footballing philosophy, Fàbregas has already impressed by leading Como to Serie A promotion — their first top-flight appearance in 20 years. His style of play and ability to deliver results make him a strong candidate to lead Inter into a new era. The club hopes to make a decision before the week is over.
