'Even if Fernandes stays': Man United 'intend' to sign dream partner for Cunha for £50m+

Manchester United have made a bright start in the summer transfer window by signing star Matheus Cunha.

With their attack misfiring throughout a dismal 2024–25 campaign, the Red Devils are now pushing hard to bring in at least one more top-tier attacker.

Brentford sensation Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as a prime target and could be the next name through the Old Trafford doors.

According to reputed journalist Ben Jacobs, Man United intend to try for Mbeumo even if Bruno Fernandes stays.

The Bees are demanding a fee north of £50 million to sanction his exit.

United’s failure to secure European football next season has made transfer negotiations trickier but Mbeumo reportedly does not see that as a “dealbreaker”.

Recruiting Mbeumo would be a major statement for United, but they face a transfer battle with Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old has impressed with his brilliant performances at Brentford.

His electric form saw him smash 20 goals and record eight assists in 38 Premier League games during the recently concluded season.

The Cameroon international has developed into one of the division’s most prolific forwards and will instantly breathe life into United’s toothless attack.

United head coach Ruben Amorim sets his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Mbeumo seems an ideal fit for the right-sided number 10 role, having played in a similar position at Brentford.

He could also be utilised as a right wing-back if the Red Devils adopt an all-out attack approach.

He has long been an underrated player, but his recent contributions have forced many top clubs to take notice.

Pairing him with Cunha could be exactly what United need to revitalise their stuttering attack and finally start converting chances into goals.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have a concrete interest in signing Bruno Fernandes.

United will gain significant financial flexibility if Fernandes is offloaded.

However, their attack could be even more lethal with Fernandes, Cunha and Mbeumo all in the same starting XI.
