Patriots Rumors: Update On Contract Negotiations With Top Rookies

The Patriots were enamored with Will Campbell throughout the 2025 NFL Draft process, but he’s yet to sign a contract.

Campbell was one of seven first-round picks yet to sign a contract, as of Monday morning. But before New England fans panic, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Sunday that the sides were working on details on cash flow.

Reiss’ Sunday column also offered details on negotiations with second-round pick TreVeyon Henderson, who could take some time signing his deal.

“The top two picks in the second round received fully guaranteed deals, a rarity, which has slowed things down as teams and agents determine at what spot the full guarantees will end,” Reiss wrote.

Fourth-round pick Craig Woodson made a strong first impression at minicamp last month. That might be why the safety was among a group of fourth-round selections “vying for above-minimum compensation, similar to third-round picks whose base salaries can increase by no more than 25% each season,” according to Reiss. This also slowed down negotiations between the Patriots and his agent.

Rookies signing contracts often isn’t big news. However, when there is a slowdown in negotiations, there tends to be worry among the fanbase. New England’s front office does still have time to get contracts worked out before the franchise’s offseason program ramps up.
