Amorim believes 18yo prodigy is 'ready' for first team, praises two other teenagers

0 1

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim hailed the youngsters after their 3-1 win over Hong Kong in the last post-season friendly.

Chido Obi netted twice before Ayden Heaven added his name to the scoresheet to complete a comeback victory for the Red Devils.

Amorim praised the duo and Jim Thwaites after their valuable contribution in the two post-season games.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “I really like the kids. I think Jimmy [Thwaites], in the last 15 minutes, as a midfielder, he wants to play. It doesn’t matter how many minutes. These kind of young kids are really important.

“They will have space in our team. Of course, it’s a good feeling [for Obi to score twice] but he needs to continue to train really hard because the Premier League is a different world.

“We have to improve as a team but I’m really pleased with the kids. Ayden proved, in every game for the first team, he is ready to be an option. Of course, he has got to improve.”

The young trio has a bright future

Heaven moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal in January for just £1.5 million.

The 18-year-old might have featured even more if not for an untimely injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

His commanding display against Aston Villa in the final Premier League fixture reminded everyone of his poise and maturity far beyond his years.

While Lisandro Martinez remains United’s go-to at left centre-back, Heaven has shown he can be a strong rotational option next season.

With Victor Lindelof’s departure confirmed, Heaven looks like a ready-made replacement.

Two goals for Obi today will boost his morale ahead of a big summer.

The 17-year-old needs to work hard on his fitness and establish himself as a reliable attacking option for Amorim.

He is one of the best players at the youth level but playing for United demands not only talent but also character.

Meanwhile, Jim Thwaites continues to turn heads with his vision and ability to unlock defences with line-breaking passes.

The teenager will hope to hit the ground running in the academy next season and aim for a first-team breakthrough.
