Spanish club to hold talks with Man United over 25 y/o star next week
Forward Antony was in brilliant form in the second half of the season, having joined Real Betis on loan in the January transfer window.
He scored five goals and provided two assists to help Betis finish sixth in La Liga, securing Europa League qualification for next season.
Antony also made seven goal contributions in the Conference League, helping Betis reach the final, where they lost to Chelsea.
Betis could have paid £306,600 to United had they won the competition, but they will still pay the English giants £126,000 for Antony’s role in their Europa League qualification via the league.
The Spanish side are satisfied with the left-footed winger’s performance and hope to keep him beyond the summer.
Betis will now hold talks with Man United next week regarding Antony’s future, according to Marca.
They plan to discuss several options with the Manchester outfit, including another loan deal — though United are unlikely to agree — or a shared ownership arrangement that would allow both clubs to benefit from any future sale.
Antony, who currently earns £200,000 per week, would need to take a pay cut to stay at Benito Villamarin, as United have been covering most of his wages.
Betis may be unable to afford the Brazilian’s £40 million valuation, which explains why they are considering different options to retain his services.
The Red Devils could sell for a lesser fee as they need £32.52m to avoid recording a loss on him under the Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.
His strong form has earned him a recall to the Brazil national team ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.
The 25-year-old last featured for the Selecao in 2023, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 loss to Morocco.
