Bay sign George Hughes

WE are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder George Hughes.

George, who joins from Newtown, returns to the Bay having spent a month on loan at the club during the 2017/18 season in the Evo-Stik League First Division North.

The 26-year-old began his career at Shrewsbury Town and also had loan with Clitheroe, Stalybridge Celtic as well as the Bay and Newtown.

He made his first team debut for Shrewsbury in the 2017/18 season before leaving to join Airbus UK in July 2019 and moved to Newtown in the summer of 2020, where he has spent the last five years.

“I had a couple of really good conversations with Wildey and I’ve been here before so I know what the club’s all about,” George said.

“The supporters are a real big pull here – fans whop care about the club and want to see you do well and get behind you.

“I’m really looking forward to it.”

Reflecting on his return to Llanelian Road, George said:

“It’s changed an awful lot with the main difference being the stand and where they are now.

“A lot has changed but a club I’ve always enjoyed seeing how they get on and where the club are now.”
