Tottenham expect coach decision by next week, but it doesn’t involve Ange Postecoglou
Ryan Mason has been contacted by West Bromwich Albion to become their new head coach, and it has now been revealed when the Tottenham assistant coach will make a final decision on whether to depart Hotspur Way.
Mason joined Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff as an assistant when the Australian arrived at the club in 2023 and his contract runs out this summer.
The former Tottenham midfielder previously served as an academy coach at Hotspur Way and even stepped in as the interim head coach of the first-team on two occasions following the sackings of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
Over recent days, reports have indicated that Mason could leave Spurs this summer to take over as West Brom’s head coach after being approached by the Baggies.
When Ryan Mason will make a decision on his Tottenham future
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has now taken to social media to reveal that the 33-year-old is indeed top of the Championship club’s wishlist to take over this summer.
The journalist said that Mason has not made a final decision on his Spurs future yet, even though his contract as an assistant coach runs out next month.
The Tottenham man has allegedly informed the Midlands side and his employers that he will make a final decision at the start of next week.
Could Ryan Mason be waiting to find out Ange Postecoglou’s fate?
Mason may be waiting to find out what Tottenham Hotspur decide about their managerial role before saying yes to West Brom.
Reports indicate that the expectation at Spurs is that Postecoglou will be sacked despite the club’s Europa League success.
The 33-year-old might want to see if Levy has an unexpected change of heart and who Tottenham turn to as the Australian’s successor to see if he has a future as a first-team coach at the club.
