Video: Man Utd star & Spurs star pulled apart after Europa League final as tempers boil over

0 4

Manchester United lost the final of the Europa League to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night in Spain, ending 2024-25 on a bad note after an underwhelming Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils were unbeaten in Europe heading into the last game against Spurs, but the North London club secured a narrow 1-0 victory to pick up their first piece of silverware in 17 years.

Man United were below par against Ange Postecoglou and his men, and some of the players were still reeling from the loss after the game, with English centre-back Harry Maguire squaring up to his opposite number, Cristian Romero, shortly before the medals were handed out.

Both defenders had engaged in a couple of tussles in the second-half, with the Red Devils star eventually getting booked for a foul on the Argentine.

Romero approached Maguire after the game to speak with him, but the Man United man was not in the mood to be consoled, approaching the Spurs star to express his displeasure.

Both had to be pulled apart and the effect of the huge loss clearly got to the England international.

Man United will not be playing in Europe next season as a result of the defeat and will also have a limited transfer budget in the summer transfer window after missing out on the prize money that comes with winning the Europa League.

Their finances next season will also suffer a huge blow given their lack of participation in any of the three European competitions, and failure to win tonight will come with great consequences across many facets for the Red Devils.

They return to action on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League campaign when they host Aston Villa at Old Trafford, and a win will be a much-needed consolation after a very disappointing season by every standard.
