Carlo Ancelotti’s farewell marred: Real Madrid star to miss final La Liga game and FIFA Club World Cup in latest injury setback

Already facing the absence of nine key players and one suspension, the club has now confirmed that a crucial young forward will be unavailable for both the last La Liga game and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Real Madrid’s injury nightmare refuses to end, and just days before Carlo Ancelotti takes charge of his final match with Los Blancos, another blow has landed. Already facing the absence of nine key players and one suspension, the club has now confirmed that a crucial young forward will be unavailable for both the last La Liga game and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

The latest setback is not just another name on the treatment table—it represents the end of a promising season for a rising star, and a significant loss for a side already stretched thin.

As Carlo Ancelotti prepares to say goodbye to the Bernabeu and step into his new role as manager of the Brazil national team, Real Madrid finds itself gripped by an unprecedented injury crisis. Wednesday’s La Liga clash against Mallorca will see no fewer than nine players ruled out due to physical issues, including Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Junior, and Lucas Vazquez. Adding to the chaos, Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended due to card accumulation.

In defense, the situation has become so desperate that only Fran Garcia and Jesus Vallejo remain from the first-team regulars, forcing the Italian to call up Castilla defender Raul Asencio.

The latest casualty

The identity of the latest blow? Endrick, the Brazilian sensation who had only just begun to earn minutes due to injuries to others, including Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo. The 18-year-old forward suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg during the second half of Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Sevilla last weekend.

“Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Endrick, he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his right leg. Pending evolution,” read a statement from the club.

According to Spanish journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, Endrick could miss up to two months, ruling him out of the Club World Cup, which begins on June 14 in the United States. That means he will also be absent for the highly symbolic final game under Ancelotti’s leadership when Real Madrid face Real Sociedad.

Endrick’s unlucky break after momentum build

For the young Brazilian, this comes at a cruel time. After a season largely spent on the bench, he had recently started two consecutive games, offering a glimpse of what many hope is a glittering future. The youngster even assisted Jude Bellingham’s goal against Sevilla, providing a rare moment of promise amid a season dominated by setbacks.

In addition, as per Diario AS, Endrick is expected to return by mid-July, just as Los Blancos’ pre-season begins. While this gives him hope of being involved in the summer build-up under new coach Xabi Alonsohis dream of playing on the global stage at the newly-expanded Club World Cup is over.
