Donald Trump Commits ‘Idiot’ Football Blunder In Abu Dhabi, Fans Say

0 0

President Donald Trump on Friday asked if an under-construction football stadium in Queens, New York, would be available for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, kicking up a round of mockery on social media. (Watch the video below.)

“That’s going to be a hella long commute from L.A.,” one observer snarked.

He’s such an idiot!” wrote another.

At a stop in Abu Dhabi, an official showed the president a rendering of Etihad Park for the New York City FC team of Major League Soccer.

Trump noted that he grew up in Queens and knows the area well. He said the site was “where they used to fix the cars and a lot of other things got fixed there.”

Trump asked, “Will they be using that in the Olympics?”

Etihad Park is expected to be operational for the 2027 Major League Soccer season, so it could conceivably (though highly unlikely) be used for the L.A. Games. (Olympic officials have yet to announce other soccer stadiums besides the Rose Bowl.)

The Olympic soccer tournament, including the Paris Games last summer, has often used sites outside the host city for matches. The 1984 Los Angeles Olympics even used Harvard and the Naval Academy’s stadiums.

Still, Trump critics had a ball calling him out:
