Jayson Tatum Rumors: Celtics Get Tiny Bit Of Good News Post-Surgery
The Celtics will take any bit of good news at this point, especially regarding the future of Jayson Tatum.
Certainly, the road to recovery for the Boston superstar is long, but there was a small positive development out of the otherwise crushing news that Tatum ruptured his Achilles and required surgery.
Tatum underwent that surgery on Tuesday, and according to The Boston Globe, the procedure was a success, and there wasn’t any sign of other issues that could complicate the rehab process.
“According to a league source, the injury was confirmed when Tatum underwent testing Tuesday morning and the decision was made to operate immediately because swift action following Achilles’ injuries tends to lead to more favorable outcomes,” the Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach wrote.
He continued: “The source added that complications during these procedures are common, so the Celtics were encouraged when Tatum emerged from surgery with no further issues.”
Typically, the rehab process for an Achilles injury is nine months to a year. It’s also brutal and doesn’t always work out perfectly. That puts Tatum’s status for the entire 2025-26 season in jeopardy with legitimate questions about what he can be once he returns.
But the Celtics and Tatum worked quickly to address the issue. Not only that, it sounds like everything looked good — as it could — once he went under the knife. If Tatum is going to come back early or at least on the earlier end of that time frame, it sounds like he’s positioned to do so.
