Ace has told suitors when he could leave Man Utd after £65m/year wages offered, new meeting this wk
Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal remain in touch with the representatives of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, and there will be a new meeting between them this week, according to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs.
The Red Devils insist the Portuguese midfielder is not for sale, but Al-Hilal have given him one week to give them a final answer as they are desperate to sign players ahead of the Club World Cup next month.
Fernandes told the Saudi club last year he wanted to stay at Man United until at least after the 2026 World Cup, but they are hoping to change his mind.
They have offered him wages in excess of £65 million per season and are willing to give him a three-year contract, and the Red Devils will hope he turns them down.
The 30-year-old signed a new deal with the Old Trafford club last summer, extending his stay until 2027, with the option of a 12-month extension included in the deal.
Fernandes has been crucial to Man United in the final third despite their struggles in the Premier League, and losing their most influential player anytime soon could derail the plans of head coach Ruben Amorim.
He has 19 goals and 19 assists in 54 games this term and is one of the reasons they are in the final of the Europa League after winning the Carabao Cup in 2022-23 and the FA Cup last season.
Fernandes currently earns around £300,000 per week at Man United, but Al-Hilal are ready to offer him £1.25m per week, and he has a decision to make in the coming days.
His Portugal teammates, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves, currently play for the Riyadh-based club and a move there will not hinder his prospects of getting regular international call-ups.
Man United battle Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the league phase of next season’s Champions League in the final of the Europa League next Wednesday (May 21), and the result of the game could now have a huge say on Fernandes’ decision.
