Crystal Palace fear losing Oliver Glasner but it is not good news for Tottenham

0 3

Crystal Palace are reportedly worried about losing Tottenham managerial target Oliver Glasner this summer, but it is not Spurs’ interest that they are concerned about.

Over the last couple of months, a number of outlets have reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Oliver Glasner, whose stock has grown since he replaced Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park last season.

According to reports in Germany, Tottenham are set to battle RB Leipzig for Glasner’s services this summer, with the East German club keen to take him back to the Bundesliga.

A fresh report has now suggested that it is Leipzig’s advances that the Eagles are increasingly concerned about.

Crystal Palace hierarchy fear Glasner could walk away

This report comes from GiveMeSport, who say that Palace fear that they might face a battle to hold onto their head coach.

This is because Leipzig has now made Glasner their top managerial target to replace Marco Rose, who was sacked at the end of March.

It is revealed that Palace are now ‘braced for an offer’ for the Austrian coach, and they fear that he could be tempted by the opportunity to head to the Red Bull Arena.

The South London club have been trying to tie Oliver Glasner to a new contract to keep him out of the clutches of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Leipzig, but their efforts have been unsuccessful. As a result, influential figures at Palace are now worried that he might have his heart set on a move to Leipzig.

The outlet adds that the Premier League side would seek a compensation package worth in the region of £17m for their manager.

Tottenham may have an upper hand in the Oliver Glasner race

Interestingly, just a few days ago, Bild claimed that Spurs have the upper hand over the Bundesliga club in the race for Glasner’s signature.

The report said that even though Oliver Glasner has spoken to Leipzig, he is more likely to end up at Tottenham.

The same publication claimed last month that Spurs would be able to offer Glasner a much more lucrative contract than Leipzig and suggested that an opportunity to remain in the Premier League would also be tempting for the 50-year-old.

However, if GiveMeSport are right in saying that Palace are more worried about Leipzig’s advances, that could mean that Tottenham do not have Glasner at the top of their wishlist and have not made any concrete overtures towards him.
