Ex-Bruins Star Brad Marchand Dooms Maple Leafs In OT

Brad Marchand continues to haunt the Toronto Maple Leafs, even in a new sweater.

The former Boston Bruins captain still found his way to a postseason matchup against Toronto in the second round. The Florida Panthers needed a spark down 2-0 in the series and headed to overtime in a 4-4 tie at Amerant Bank Arena.

Marchand stepped up to answer the call when he netted the game-winning goal past Joseph Woll. The veteran send the Florida crowd into a frenzy to vault the Panthers back into the series.

The 2011 Stanley Cup champion ended Toronto’s season plenty of times with the Bruins, most recently in another seven-game duel last April went David Pastrnak put the series on ice (literally) with a Game 7 overtime goal at TD Garden.

Marchand holds 21 goals and 37 assists in 59 career games against Toronto. Specifically, that’s 12 career playoff goals for Marchand against his former Bruins rival. Marchand and the Panthers have work to do in the series still on the path to repeat and earn the veteran’s second ring.
