Tottenham Hotspur sealed progression to the finals of the Europa League with a 5-1 win on aggregate over Bodo/Glimt. Here is all that Spurs fans need to know about the Europa League final, including when and where the game will be played, ticket allocation and what the winners will get.

As one would expect, Ange Postecoglou was very emotional in the changing room after seeing Tottenham secure passage to the Europa League final.

The Australian admitted to the Spurs squad that he is proud of the fight and character they have shown through adversity this season.

He and the Tottenham Hotspur players now have the chance to write their names into the club’s history books by delivering a trophy to Spurs fans, who have been starved of silverware for 17 long years.

Where is the final?

The final of the 2025 Europa League will be played in Spain, with the magnificent San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, the home of Athletic Club, set to host the showpiece event.

The stadium, which resembles a mini version of Wembley, seats 53,331 people, and there is no doubt that a lot of Tottenham fans will already be planning their trips to Basque.

When is the Europa League final?

The Europa League final will be played on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 8 pm (BST). It will be the 16th final since the competition was rebranded and the 54th edition since the UEFA Cup was first introduced.

What is Tottenham’s record like in the Europa League?

This is the first time that Tottenham Hotspur have reached the final since it was rebranded as the Europa League, but they did win the UEFA Cup on two occasions, once in 1972 and then again in 1984.

If Spurs win it, it will be the fourth major European trophy in the North London club’s history, including their 1962–63 European Cup Winners’ Cup triumph, which was the first time any English club had won a European trophy.

This is the first time that Spurs have reached a major European final since their Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid in 2019.

Who are Tottenham’s opponents in the final and what is their record like?

Tottenham will be playing Premier League opposition just like they did in 2019, with Man United now standing between them and the Europa League trophy.

The Red Devils boast of a formidable record in Europe, having won the Champions League three times, and the UEFA Cup, Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Super Cup on one occasion each.

Tottenham and Manchester United team news

Tottenham will be without Radu Dragusin, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall for the big final, with all three players out with long-term injuries.

However, captain Heung-min Son, who is recovering from a foot problem, is expected to be fit to play a part in Bilbao.

Meanwhile, for Man United, Lisandro Martínez and Joshua Zirkzee are out for the rest of the season, while Matthijs de Ligt, Diogo Dalot and Ayden Heaven are in a race against time to be fit for the final.

Rubem Amorim and Ange Postecoglou will be expected to rest all key players for their remaining league games as neither manager would want to risk additional injuries before the big clash.

What do the Europa League winners get?

According to Football.London, the winners of the Europa League will win a 15kg trophy – the heaviest piece of silverware that UEFA have to offer.

Additionally, they will also secure direct passage into the league phase of next season’s Champions League while having a chance to face off against this season’s Champions League winners in the UEFA Super Cup, which will be played at the start of next season.

Additionally, the winners of the Europa League will get a prize money of €13m (£10.95m) while the runners-up will get €7m (£5.9m).

What is the ticket allocation like for the final?

Tottenham have been given an allocation of 14,770 for the final, including 25 pairs of tickets for wheelchair users, as well as 15 pairs of easy-access seats.

The application for the season ticket holders who would like to attend the final was officially closed at 10 am on Friday morning.

Tickets will be allocated in line with the Club’s ticketing points system, with the points displayed on supporters’ accounts as May 6 set to be used to determine ticket eligibility.
