MLB Analyst Makes Red Sox Prediction After Rafael Devers Comments
Rafael Devers took center stage after the Red Sox won the series over the Texas Rangers Thursday afternoon at Fenway Park.
Devers homered in the series-clinching win then shared his side of the story on a potential move to first base for the Red Sox with Triston Casas out for the seasons. The communication with Devers has been a fragile one since his initial move off third base to designated hitter to accommodate the signing of Alex Bregman. That certainly played a role in Devers’ comments Thursday.
There’s still plenty to figure out if the solution at first base is internal or external for the Red Sox, but now there’s more to consider with Devers’ value.
MLB Network’s pregame trio of Greg Amsinger, Dan Plesac and Harold Reynolds had a deep discussion on Devers’ stance. Reynolds understood the star’s frustration, though he believes a “sit-down conversation” can repair the current state and even deliver the desired positional result for the Red Sox.
“I think that’s a conversation that he’s going to do it again,” Reynolds said. “He will play first base, but they better sit down and rectify it.”
So, Reynolds believes the end will be Devers playing first base for the Red Sox?
“I think he will,” Reynolds added.
