Paul Pierce Follows Through On Declaration After Celtics’ Game 2 Loss

Walking to work sometimes is a viable way to start your day, but that wasn’t what a Celtics legend wished for.

Paul Pierce predicted that Boston would bounce back in Game 2 on Wednesday to even up the series against the Knicks. The 47-year-old was so confident that he claimed he would walk to the FS1 studio in a bathrobe if his former team went down 0-2. Unfortunately for the 2008 NBA champion, New York again came back from a 20-point deficit and embarrassed the Celtics at TD Garden.

Pierce easily could have shown up Thursday and gotten mocked for his prediction. But the Hall of Famer went on his Instagram story to show him actually following through on his declaration. According to Pierce, he lives about 20 miles away from the FS1 studio, which is an eight-hour walk. He apparently is following through and woke up bright and early for his walk. Pierce’s social media posts featured him bemoaning having to follow through with the challenge while also wondering how Boston lost in Game 2.

California commuters likely didn’t wake up Thursday thinking they’d see Pierce walking in his bathrobe, but that’s exactly what they saw. And they have the Knicks to thank for that.
