Students snap up Queen’s Park tickets in record time

0 4

STUDENTS snapped up Spiders tickets so quickly, their college had to send for extra supplies.

As part of Queen’s Park’s special tie-in with the Glasgow Clyde College (GCC), 150 briefs were made available to staff and students for the season-ending clash with Raith Rovers at Hampden last week.

But such was the incredible levels of interest those ran out – and even the added batch released to meet the phenomenal demand were quickly taken up – contributing to the bumper crowd numbers at the game.

With Raith Rovers bringing almost 1500 away fans, the students from Anniesland, Cardonald and Langside campuses combined with home fans to take the crowd past the 2600-mark.

That’s a huge stamp of approval for the partnership – and head of commercial Kieran Koszary is looking forward to future link-ups with the Langside campus just around the corner from The city Stadium.

He said: “Seeing such a fabulous interest – and fantastic uptake in students and staff attending the game – has really pleased us all at the Club.

“Queen’s Park is not only a club at the heart of the southside community, but we’re Glasgow’s oldest football team and seeing students from across the city want to share our final match of the season at Hampden was fantastic.

“We hope to see them again next season and will be working on other initiatives with our friends at GCC.

“Rounding off the season with another success story, to add to Tickets for Streets and our long-established Tickets for Schools scheme, really has signed off 2024-25 on a high for the commercial and ticketing department.”

Robert Anderson, Assistant Principal: International & Business Development at GCC added: “We are absolutely delighted with the strong interest and ticket uptake among our students across our three campuses. It was fantastic to see so many of them coming together to enjoy the game against Raith Rovers and the overall experience, even if the result didn’t go our way.

“This event highlighted the great partnership between the college and Queen’s Park Football Club, not only in fostering a shared sense of community but also in creating unique opportunities for our students to engage with sport.

We look forward to building on this collaboration in the future.”
