FA Women’s National League Division One (South-East)

Team: Wiggins, Cooper, Searle, Lewin, Brooks, Hill, Owen, D’Santos, Ward-Chambers, Leach, Dzyadyk

Subs: Hennessy, McCrea, Makowska, Munro, Stanley

Attendance: 663

After a fairly even opening 15 minutes, Chrissie Wiggins was forced into action when she did well to get down at the near post to push away Lesha Swaby’s shot at goal.

Rangers’ first attempt came three minutes later, when Saskia Reeves Priestly made a comfortable save from Annie Dzyadyk’s low strike.

Then, Meila D’Santos’ opportunist 25-yard shot landed in the keeper’s gloves.

The R’s took a deserved lead on 25 minutes following a good move when Annie Dzyadyk passed to Jessica Leach, who in turn set up Courtnay Ward-Chambers who proceeded to slot the ball in the corner.

Annie Dzyadyk had two attempts at goal in the closing stages of the half. Half-time: 1-0.

The hosts had a couple of speculative long strikes at goal which didn’t trouble the R’s keeper.

Danny Harrigan made two changes on 55 minutes when he introduced Alana Munro and Grace Stanley at the expense of Jessica Leach and Annie Dzyadyk respectively.

Mr Wignington awarded another ridiculous free kick to the hosts whilst a blatant push in the back on a Rangers player was waved away!

An excellent breakaway after 66 minutes, resulted in Grace Stanley forcing a flying save from the keeper.

Rangers’ first free kick of the afternoon finally arrived after Ellie Searle was tripped. The free kick was then aimed directly at Saskia Reeves Priestly.

Meila D’Santos was shown a yellow card after clearly not committing a foul!

Laura Hennessy replaced Izzy Owen on 75 minutes.

The R’s comfortably saw out the closing stages and at the final whistle it was a well-deserved three points for the West London side.

Rangers then travelled to Hanworth Villa’s ground to take on Ashford Town.
